Ray Imperial

Distinguished Alumnus Ray Imperial, Class of 1946

Ray Imperial was born September 17, 1928, in Richmond, Indiana. He attended Purdue for two years before he married Evelyn Jordan in 1948.  He was drafted during the Korean War serving stateside with the army.  After the service he attended Indiana University and received a BA in business.

He managed Richmond Homes, Inc., Walled Lake Door, and began Johnson Sheet Metal Projects in 1971.  He started his own company, Imperial Products, in 1978 which manufactures housing materials.  He retired in 1992.

He founded Excalibur Golf Classic in Florida which raises money for St. Jude’s Children Hospital and is today the Champions for St. Jude’s in St. Augustine, Florida.

He helped create Art to Heart, an annual joint fund-raising project for the Richmond Art Association and Reid Health Care.  He is an artist and lives in Florida.

He is a major contributor to the RHS Alumni Association, has funded projects with Richmond Civic Theater, supported the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, and contributed funds to the Imperial Cardiac Catheterization Unit at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.  He has supported Junior Achievement and the RHS Music Department.  His business, Imperial Products, continues in Richmond.
