RHS Friday-“DYK?”…When the new high school opened in 1939, there were 1300 students in three grades, fifty-two faculty members, a principal, and a dean of boys and a dean of girls. There were not the number of course offerings as of now; however, class sizes were as many as 40 students. Today, RHS has 1300 students in four grades, 80 faculty members, several support staff members, a principal, three assistant principals, and a director of career education.

RHS FACTS-“DYK Tuesday?”…RHS graduates include a Nobel Laureate in chemistry, a two time Pulitzer Prize recipient, a doctor who invented the heart valve, an Oscar recipient who is part of a Disney animation team, a pioneer of flight-Wilbur Wright, one of the first female jet fighter pilots, an internationally famous drummer and orthopedic surgeon, a man who worked in the research lab to help develop the electrical components of the atomic bomb, the former CEO of Merrill Lynch International, a renowned award winning author and Emmy recipient and MORE…..

RHS-“DYK Friday?”-The “Victory Bell” is displayed in social hall in 1943. The base was built by the industrial arts class. The class of 1943 decided the bell would not be rung until the war ended. It was rung for the first time in September 1945 when Japan surrendered.
