Distinguished Alumni Bob Rosa, Jr., and Jane Bell Rosa, class of 1965

“Buy Local” can always be associated with Bob Rosa Jr. who followed his father’s footsteps, both at work and marriage. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Jane Bell.  He served in the army during the Vietnam War and then attended Purdue and Indiana University studying engineering.  He took over the family business in 1982.

While owner and CEO of the business, Bob, Jr., created the slogan of “Buy Local” for his business and for Richmond as well.  An active member of the local chamber of commerce, he championed small businesses.

Rosa sold the business in 2006 but remained active in local issues.  He was killed in an automobile accident in 2011. His presence in the community was magnified by his sudden death. He and his wife, Jane, were the parents of Sheryl Rosa of Chicago, Illinois, and Jill Rosa of Portland, Oregon.

Jane Rosa, also class of 1965, married Bob Rosa, Jr., after studying elementary education at Indiana University.  She was an elementary teacher for the Richmond Community Schools, retiring in 2006. She had a strong belief in education and encouraged both of her daughters to earn Master’s and Doctorate degrees.
